Green Bricks Education Society
Welcome to the Green Bricks Education Society. The purpose of our organization is to involve BC youth in sustainable land use and development through curriculum-linked outreach programs.
Green Bricks is pleased to offer two science-based interactive sustainability workshops, free of charge, to secondary and elementary classrooms across British Columbia during the 2016/17 school year. We also offer our annual Green Collar Futures FREE Career Conference for students in grades 10 to 12 in February. Next one is Saturday February 18, 2017.
1. Green B10cks
Green B10cks is offered to Science 10/Planning 10 classrooms. Since 2007, Green B10cks has been engaging students to understand the importance and benefits of sustainable building issues in their schools and communities and reaches 200 classrooms annually through this science-based program. A grade 9 version of this program (revised to reflect the new Big Ideas in Grade 9 science) will be offered in select school districts this school year.
Green Bricks H24 was piloted in 2011 and is now being offered to 160 grade 4 classrooms. This curriculum-connected workshop engages students to understand the importance of water in our lives and how we can manage water sustainably into the future.
“Great presentation! The presenter was very knowledgeable and engaging. Ideas are explained very clearly and the activities very interactive and relevant.” Vincie Kam, King George Secondary
