Welcome to this Waste Audit!

Every student who completes this audit by June 4, 2021 is entered into a draw for a class pizza party.

We enjoyed visiting your classroom. Help your family reduce waste in your home!

Do you have a kitchen organics bin? (you know - the place you put food scraps)

Check the items your family would put in the organics bin (remember organics only in this bin and no plastic):

Did everyone eat all the food on their plates? (We love food but hate waste!)

How often does your family empty your kitchen organics bin into the big green cart?

Check the items your family would put in your curb side recycling blue cart (remember some items can be recycled but need to be taken to the recycling depot):

All of us make decisions every day that impact how much garbage we send to the landfill. The Zero Waste Challenge is about figuring out how to greatly reduce that garbage.

Check the items you NEED today. (remember some things we 'need' and some we 'want')

Avoiding waste is easy to do! Check the statements that you do to avoid waste:

I am using the same backpack that I had last year We always take re-usable bags to the grocery store We buy food with less packaging We take old clothes to the thrift store I bring my re-useable water bottle to my activities instead of buying water

How often do you use your own refillable water bottle? (Hint: A re-usable water bottle means we get to drink healthy Surrey tap water AND reduce waste)

How often do you and your family take re-usable shopping bags when you go shopping? (Hint: A re-usable shopping bag reduces waste and helps keep those plastic bags out of the ocean!)
